Something about Rob that I love the most is how family oriented he is. He is all about family. Shirt off your back? He would give you his shirt, without question, but also his pants, coat, hat, socks, shoes and his last breath.  Rob would do anything for his family.

That's also how Robs brother, Tom, was. I remember the first time I ever met Tom. I was asleep at Robs house, and all of a sudden, I awoke in the morning to the sound of a strangers voice, talking to me from the foot of the bed. It was Tom, and he had come into town, stopped by his brothers house expecting to see Rob (who had already left for work) and there I was, his brothers new girlfriend (hey, no judging) and one might expect that situation to be awkward, except it wasn't.

Yes, it surprised me a little to wake up to someone I had never met, but within two minutes, I felt like Tom was just an old friend I had always known. Because he had that easiness about him. He had never met me, but he talked to me like he had known me for years. And I couldn't help but smile at his endearment. (And the fact that I was only wearing undies under the covers.)

Like Rob, the impression Tom left on me was that he also was all about family. I remember at my wedding, when Tom told me what made him the happiest was just being around family, and that we all needed to do this more often. Tom loved his family, and like Rob, I think would do anything for them. 

Tom passed away last night after a hard struggle with cancer. He will be missed, absolutely, but I am happy to have known him, to have called him my family, and know I will see him again one day.
