Before I had kids...

11.14.2011

Before I had kids, I never thought I would let them eat dog food. But when you think about it, the ingredients that are in dog food is probably much healthier than the shit that's in chicken nuggets or McDonalds cheeseburgers. I mean, just because it's called "dog food" does not mean it can't be eaten by humans. Or that it isn't healthy for that matter.

I mean, who's to judge?

Before I had kids, I imagined I would be a "cleanly" mother. And I definitely would not let my naked baby sit in the pan we were about to cook dinner in that night.

Photobucket

And I definitely imagined that if that did happen, I would clean said pan before cooking our food in it.

But that was all before I had kids.

(And no, it doesn't make the food taste any different)

Before I had kids, I never thought I would have to grab my camera and snap a picture real quick before comforting them when they were in a sad, vulnerable position.

Photobucket

It's like a secret moms club that no one wants to admit they are a part of but everyone does it.

And before I had kids, I had no idea the immensity of the f*@K I would not give when people gave me their opinions about how to raise my children, such as:

the length of my child's hair...

Photobucket

letting my kids be naked in public...

Photobucket

or letting my three year old paint his toenails black...

Photobucket

And now that I do have kids?

Don't ever wanna go back.

P.S. My little love bug taylorboo got engaged this weekend! If you don't know her, you should definitely get to know her. She is most definitely someone I consider to be a very best friend of mine.

Visit her blog HERE and wish her a congrats on her upcoming nuptials? It's gonna be an awesome wedding, not to mention that yours truly will be a bridesmaid and my two little angel muffs will be the ring bearers. First time ever in a little penguin suite. Momma will be so proud.

  26. SO true! And just BTW, Gunner has a twin in Georgia. The hubs and I went out to dinner last night, and this couple with a little boy got sat next to us. I looked over at him and was all "OMG He looks JUST like Gunner!" Hubs of course was like "Who's this kid your talking about?" I was just like "Oh, he's my blog friends little boy" Like I know you or something :) Haha He wasn't quite as cute as Gunner of course, but could easily pass as his twin.

  33. I love that you keep it all the way real on your bloggy. Before I was a mother I thought I would do things much differently and sadly I judged a lot of momma's wondering why they let their kids do the things they did. When people question me though...I get all momma bear on them.

  46. Hahahaha! Ok, pretty sure I think the same way YOU thought before you had kids. I guess I will have a rude awakening when I have my babies and realize that it's all going down the hole. But I must admit, I already know that my hubs and I are going to torture our kids every chance we get. Like the Halloween JKL video? We'll so do that to our kids! And we'll probably laugh at them when they throw a fit :)
    Your boys are PRECIOUS!

    ReplyDelete
  47. You are an awesome Mom! You are honest, you don't give a flying F what people say or think. That's awesome. And the cool thing? You will raise your boys that way! We need more Raven's!!! :)

  52. I just found your blog and I am in love. You are hilarious and educated, which is hard to find in a blog. You are brilliant with words and I don't feel like my IQ is dropping while reading. You're inspiring and beautiful. And your boys are blessed to have you as their mom. I love that you are able appreciate the good and bad in life and blog about both. I have read so many blogs and I think to myself "Where the hell are these people's problems? Why don't they have any down days?" It's nice to know while there is always a silver lining sometimes your house is going to smell like poop and there is nothing you can do about it, today. You have brought so much joy and laughter to my otherwise boring job. Thank you.

  53. your two boys are adorable and love the pony tail :) haha
